InVideo Io: Should You Get It? [Features, Pricing, Review]

Are you hoping to create great-looking videos for YouTube and other social media platforms? Are you not a professional video editor? Then InVideo io might be the ideal solution for you. I've used the tool on a lot of projects. In this post, I give you my review, while going over the InVideo pricing and features.
InVideo software review

What is InVideo io?

InVideo io is a web-based video editing tool designed for people who want to create professional-looking videos in a quick time frame. Though any type of video can be made on the platform, it's primarily geared toward organic posts and ads for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media networks.

Though you can create professional-looking videos with the software, it was designed with non-professionals in mind. The drag-and-drop interface is very easy to use. You can get started without any video editing experience.

Plus, the platform comes with a lot of pre-designed video templates. Animations, transitions, stock videos and photos, and music clips are already built in, with royalty-free access.

When you find a template that's a good fit for your project, you can simply upload your raw footage, customize the titles, and within minutes, you'll have a video that's ready for sharing to YouTube or wherever else you'd like to add it.

InVideo pricing

InVideo has a free plan, which gives you access to editing features and the template library, however, the videos you export will have a watermark on them. I recommend getting started with the Business package, which lets you export HD videos without watermarks.

  • The Business package, billed annually, is $15 per month

  • The Business package, billed monthly, is $30 per month

  • The Unlimited package (designed for teams), billed annually, is $30 per month

  • The Unlimited package, billed annually, is $60 per month

  • InVideo also offers one-time-purchase lifetime access, $399 for Business and $1,099 for Unlimited

How does InVideo work? Features and flow.

Follow these simple steps to create videos:

  • Browse InVideo's template library to find a fit for your project. The gallery is broken into various categories, which makes searching easy (ex, travel, sports, holidays, etc). If you don't find a template that's a match, no problem. You can also create a video from scratch too.

  • Upload your raw footage to the platform. This might be a video you shot on your phone. Or maybe it's a clip you downloaded from some external source.

  • Use InVideo's editing canvas to customize your raw footage. Trim clips, integrate a variety of effects (zooms, slides, etc), alter colors, alter speeds, and add overlay text.

  • If you're using a template, you can drag and drop your edited clips into placeholders within the template. If you're not using a template, you can drag and drop the clips into any sequence you like, then add transitions, text animations, etc.

  • Templated content is fully customizable. So, if you don't happen to love a particular song or transition, you can replace it with something new from InVideo's vast library. If you're not using a template, you can mix and match elements from this library in any way you choose.

  • Voiceover lets you upload narrated audio to your videos, if you'd like.

  • When your video is complete, you can export it in HD. You can also easily change the aspect ratio, creating different versions optimized for different social media platforms. For example, a landscape version for YouTube and a vertical one for Instagram.

How I use InVideo

I run an online-education platform for writers. The writing courses feature various video lessons that cover characterization, plot development, suspense, and other topics relevant to book and screenplay writing.

The raw footage consisted of me discussing these topics. I used InVideo to add intros, transitions, music, and title cards to these videos. I took clips from the classes and put together 30-second promo videos for each of the courses too.

If you'd like, check out the video courses.

The course videos were shot in landscape mode. I then used InVideo to reformat the videos into vertical mode and edit them into segments, each less than a minute long. I uploaded these segments to YouTube, as Shorts, and Instagram, as Reels.

What I like about InVideo

  • You can add great-looking title cards and customize them in seconds

  • The music library is massive and you don't have to worry about royalty contracts

  • Repurposing a video from landscape to vertical mode is easy

  • Positioning clips via drag and drop is easy

  • The interface is clean - it isn't crowded with a bunch of options you'll likely never use

InVideo alternatives

InVideo is surely not the only software out there for video editing.

If you've been hired to edit a $40 million movie, InVideo probably isn't the best route for you. You're going to want a platform with more advanced features.

Though certain platforms out there have more features than InVideo, they are aimed at industry professionals, like Hollywood editors. Not only are they more expensive, but they can take a long time to learn.

If you're an entrepreneur, content creator, or marketer vs. a professional video editor, you don't need a fully robust editing software.

On the other end of the spectrum are editing tools that offer fewer features than InVideo. These may be cheaper. However, they lack InVideo's extensive royalty-free content library.

To give your videos a professional look, you'd have to purchase content from an outside stock photo/video service. Plus, editing on a stripped-down tool may be cumbersome and time consuming.

At just $15/month for the Business package, InVideo can provide much more overall value than options with lower sticker prices.

Leveraging video analytics

InVideo is a video-editing platform. It's not an analytics tool. If you plan to feature video in your content strategy, I recommend you also use analytics tools to help you choose high-reach topics for your videos and measure their performance on YouTube and other channels.

vidIQ is an analytics tool that's very effective for YouTube, while BuzzSumo is an intelligence tool that offers in-depth topical insights across the internet.

Try InVideo

If you're a non-professional hoping to create professional-looking videos, I recommend InVideo. Its features provide everything a non-professional needs, and its pricing is affordable.

Though I suggest starting with the Business package (to avoid watermarks), you may want to give InVideo's free version a try, just to test it out, then upgrade before you actually export a video to share on YouTube, etc. Try it here:
