A story's theme refers to the comment about the world that the events of a story make, after it ends. For example, if the main character of a story winds up in prison at the end, after betraying his best friend over a lot of money, the theme may be that betrayal should be avoided, despite significant temptation. 

What are some characteristics of good story dialogue?


Good story dialogue should have a sense of conflict. It should help characterize the characters involved in the dialogue, add to the plot, or both. And it should sound natural to how the characters involved would speak.

Internal conflict in a story refers to a decision a character must make between two choices. The more difficult the decision, the higher the level of internal conflict.

A motif is an element in a story that appears multiple times. It can be something physical or a concept. Its appearance helps get across the theme of the story.
